CITY OF GRANT, NEBRASKA
June 25, 2024
Mayor Lisa Schmitt convened a meeting of the Council of the City of Grant, Nebraska in open and public session on June 25, 2024 at 7:01 p.m. Notice of this meeting was given in advance by publication in the Grant Tribune Sentinel, the City’s designated method for giving notice, June 20, 2024, and members of the City Council and a copy of their Acknowledgment of Receipt and the Agenda are attached to these minutes. Availability of the Agenda was communicated in the advance notice and in the notice to the Mayor and Council of this meeting. All proceedings hereafter shown were recorded while said meeting was open to the attendance of the public.
Mayor Lisa Schmitt announced the posting of the Open Meetings Act and its location.
Roll call: Present Council members: Bishop, Brueggeman, Petersen, Sims, and Mayor Schmitt.
Others present: City Superintendent Edward Dunn, City Clerk/Treasurer Jessie Faber, et al.
The motion was made by Bishop and seconded by Petersen to accept the agenda as presented.

A motion was made by Brueggeman to approve the minutes of the June 18, 2024 meeting as presented and waive the reading and seconded by Bishop.

COMMUNICATIONS: City Superintendent, Edward Dunn informed the Council of the upcoming board meetings, citizens advisory review board will meet on July 2nd at noon, cemetery board will meet on July 9th at 5:15 p.m., and City Council will meet on July 9th at 7:00 p.m. The offices will be closed on July 4th to observe Independence Day. Dunn gave updates, he has been searching for a structural engineer for the park items as discussed at the last meeting, rock garden, rock cove, rock arch, tennis courts, etc. the Community Redevelopment Authority (CRA) met today and will have further information in standing committee reports, July 6th we will be hosting a qualifying swim meet, and July 12th the Army Band will be playing in the Park or if inclement weather at the school.

Action and Discussion on Setting a Date, Time, and Place for a Public Hearing on the Proposed 2024-2025 Budget Statement as Referenced by Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 13-501 through 13-513, Effective November 2020, and Setting an Alternate Date, Time, and Place for Said Hearing – A motion was made by Petersen to set the date, time, and place for a Public Hearing on the Proposed 2024-2025 Budget Statement for September 4, 2024 at 6:00 pm and seconded by Bishop.
Action and Discussion on Funding Agreement Between the City of Grant and the Perkins County Chamber of Commerce - A motion was made by Brueggeman to approve the funding agreement between the City of Grant and the Perkins County Chamber of Commerce and authorize the Mayor to sign and seconded by Sims.
