HASTINGS MEMORIAL LIBRARY BOARD PROCEEDINGS
CITY OF GRANT, NEBRASKA
JUNE 18, 2024
Mayor Lisa Schmitt convened a special joint meeting of the Council of the City of Grant, Nebraska in open and public session on June 18, 2024 at 6:08 p.m. Notice of this meeting was given in advance by publication in the Grant Tribune Sentinel, the City’s designated method for giving notice, June 13, 2024, and members of the City Council and a copy of their Acknowledgment of Receipt and the Agenda are attached to these minutes. Availability of the Agenda was communicated in the advance notice and in the notice to the Mayor and Council of this meeting. All proceedings hereafter shown were recorded while said meeting was open to the attendance of the public.
Mayor Lisa Schmitt announced the posting of the Open Meetings Act and its location.
Roll call: Present Council members: Kimberly Bishop, Andrea Brueggeman, Tierney Petersen, Samuel Sims, and Mayor Lisa Schmitt.
Others present: City Superintendent Edward Dunn, City Clerk/Treasurer Jessie Faber, City Attorney Tawna Holmstedt, Hastings Memorial Library Board Members Dan Thompson, Don Harris, and Renae Bottom, Hastings Memorial Library Director Robin Quinn, Hastings Memorial Library Assistant Val Foster & Library Assistant Lila Konecky, et al.
The motion was made by Kimbery Bishop and seconded by Tierney Petersen to accept the agenda as presented.
Roll call vote: Yeas – all present. Nays – none. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Kimberly Bishop to approve the minutes of the June 11, 2024 meeting as presented and waive the reading and seconded by Samual Sims.
Roll call vote: Yeas – all present. Nays – none. Motion carried.
President Dan Thompson convened a special joint meeting of the Hastings Memorial Library Board in open and public session on June 18, 2024 at 6:11 p.m. Notice of this meeting was given in advance by publication in the Grant Tribune Sentinel June 13, 2024. Availability of the Agenda was communicated in the advance notice and in the notice to the Hastings Memorial Library Board members of this meeting. All proceedings hereafter shown were recorded while said meeting was open to the attendance of the public.
President Dan Thompson announced the posting of the Open Meetings Act and its location.
Roll call: Present members: Dan Thompson, Don Harris, and Renae Bottom. Absent members: Carol Cornelius.
Others present Hastings Memorial Library Director Robin Quinn, Hastings Memorial Library Assistant Val Foster & Library Assistant Lila Konecky, City Council Members Kimberly Bishop, Andrea Brueggeman, Tierney Petersen, and Samuel Sims, and Mayor Lisa Schmitt, City Superintendent Edward Dunn, City Clerk/Treasurer Jessie Faber, City Attorney Tawna Holmstedt, et al.
The motion was made by Dan Thompson and seconded by Don Harris to acknowledge they received the agenda within the limitations of the requirements of the state statues and they are acknowledging the agenda presented was as received per state statute requirements.
Roll call vote: Yeas – all present. Nays – none. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Dan Thompson to table the minutes of the June 12, 2024 meeting to the next regular board meeting, when they would be completed and available for review and seconded by Don Harris.
Roll call vote: Yeas – all present. Nays – none. Motion carried.

Discussion matters include the following: processing bills, programming, funding and audit requests, discussion of policies and procedures and communication and direction of Library for the future – A motion was made by Kimberly Bishop to go into executive session for the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual, and to include the Library Board, Council Members, Mayor, and City Attorney and seconded by Tierney Petersen.
Roll call vote: Yeas – all present on City Council - Kimberly Bishop, Andrea Brueggeman, Tierney Petersen, and Samuel Sims. Nays – all present on the Hastings Memorial Library Board - Dan Thompson, Don Harris, and Renee Bottom. Motion carried.
Entered Executive Session at 6:15 pm.
Exited Executive Session at 8:55 pm.
A motion was made by Kimberly Bishop to come out of executive session and seconded by Tierney Petersen.
Roll call vote: Yeas – all present on City Council - Kimberly Bishop, Andrea Brueggeman, Tierney Petersen, and Samuel Sims. Nays – none. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Dan Thompson to come out of executive session and seconded by Don Harris
Roll call vote: Yeas – all present on the Hastings Memorial Library Board - Dan Thompson, Don Harris, and Renee Bottom. Nays – none. Motion carried.
Mayor Lisa Schmitt adjourned the special joint meeting of the Grant City Council and Hastings Memorial Library Board at 8:56 p.m.
