COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
CITY OF GRANT, NEBRASKA
March 10, 2026
Mayor Lisa Schmitt convened a meeting of the Council of the City of Grant, Nebraska in open and public session on March 10, 2026, at 7:01 p.m. Notice of this meeting was given in advance by publication in the Grant Tribune Sentinel, the City’s designated method for giving notice, March 5, 2026; The notice of meeting was also posted in advance at Pinnacle Bank, Grant City Hall, and the U.S. Post Office, and to members of the City Council; a copy of their Acknowledgment of Receipt and the Agenda are attached to these minutes. Availability of the Agenda was communicated in the advance notice and in the notice to the Mayor and Council of this meeting. All proceedings hereafter shown were recorded while said meeting was open to the attendance of the public.
Mayor Lisa Schmitt announced the posting of the Open Meetings Act and its location.
Roll call: Present Council members: Andrea Brueggeman, Samuel Sims, and Mayor Lisa Schmitt. Absent Council members: Kimberly Bishop and Tierney Petersen.
Others present: City Superintendent Derek Brueggeman, City Clerk/Treasurer Jessie Faber, City Attorney Tawna Holmstedt et al.
The motion was made by Brueggeman and seconded by Sims to accept the March 10, 2026 agenda as presented.
Roll call vote: Yeas – all present. Nays – none. Yea – Mayor Schmitt. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Sims to approve the minutes of the February 24, 2026 meeting as presented and waive the reading and seconded by Brueggeman.
Roll call vote: Yeas – all present. Nays – none. Yea – Mayor Schmitt. Motion carried.
COMMUNICATIONS: City Superintendent, Derek Brueggeman, informed the Council of the upcoming board meetings: the tree board will meet tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.; the library board will meet tomorrow at 5:15 p.m.; and the next City Council meeting will be on March 24th at 7:00 p.m.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Council member, Bishop – none. Council member, Brueggeman – gave an update on the cemetery board meeting and tree board meeting. Council member, Petersen – none. Council member, Sims – none.
ENFORCEMENT, SHERIFF & WATER REPORTS – Acknowledged as received.
FINANCIALS – The financials are in process and will be reviewed at the next meeting.

Action and Discussion on Repair and /or Replacement of the Garbage Truck – City Superintendent, Brueggeman, informed the Council about the needed repairs to the garbage truck. At this time Bruggeman had not received all the information on the estimated costs and lead times for a new garbage truck. He will present more information in the future to determine what direction the Council wants to move forward with on repairs and/or replacement of the garbage truck and allowing for direction on advertisement of bids. Brueggeman also answered any additional questions the Council had on the garbage truck. No Action Taken.

The motion was made by Brueggeman and seconded by Sims to approve the Bills and Claims in the amount of $191,582.65.

Brueggeman, & Sims reviewed the bills and claims prior to the meeting.
Mayor Lisa Schmitt adjourned this meeting of the Grant City Council at 7:13 P.M.
