City of Grant Press Release - June 1, 2020

JUNE 1, 2020

CITY OF GRANT PRESS RELEASE

In response to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, the City of Grant has been monitoring various governmental agencies such as the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Nebraska State Government (including the Governor’s office), Nebraska’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPD), and Perkins County Healthcare Service.

The CDC and the Governor have recommended that groups of 25 or more people should not gather, especially if the participants are arriving from other communities, which would increase the chances of the virus being transmitted into our community and participants then becoming infected and transmitting it back to their own communities.

It is important during this time of uncertainty that we remain calm and be proactive in protecting our citizens.  We appreciate everyone’s patience and conscientious cooperation in efforts to protect our community, family, and friends.  The safety of our citizens has been and will continue to be our number one priority.

In the interest of public safety, the City of Grant is taking the following actions including but not limited to:

CITY HALL:  OPEN to the Public but ask that no more than two (2) citizens be in the office at once as they will need to maintain 6 ft distance from another, and our space is limited.  Staff is available during normal business hours Monday-Friday 7 AM to 4 PM, over the phone (308-352-2100), via email (grantmgr@gpcom.net) or by appointment.

HASTINGS MEMORIAL LIBRARY:  CLOSED to the Public through June 10, 2020 but Library Staff is drafting guidance on the reopening of the Library.  They are still providing curbside checkout and various other services, contact them directly at 308-352-4894 or visit their website at http://www.libraries.ne.gov/grant/.

GRANT MUNICIPAL AIRPORT:  OPEN to the Public but ask that no more than five (5) crew members or pilots are in the main terminal at once as space is prohibitive and 6 ft social distance is still recommended.

GRANT CITY PARK:  The Park Shelters are OPEN to groups no larger than twenty-five (25) and we recommend you adhere to the guidelines set forth by the CDC pertaining to social distancing while visiting the Park.

PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT:  CLOSED until further notice.

DOG LICENSES:  Dog Licenses are due by June 30, 2020 and can be purchased for $6.00 per dog (max of three (3) dogs per household) with proof of current rabies vaccination at Grant City Hall or the Perkins County Vet Office.
